Watercolour works until 2020

Ihor Yurchenko is an artist with an original approach to watercolour techniques. He experiments with different materials on dry and wet paper, sometimes moving towards a realistic style. He uses non-standard materials to achieve special effects. He finds inspiration in films, literature, and music, trying to retain positive energy in creativity. Those who see his paintings are mostly fascinated by the technique and their colour scheme, combination of colours, and composition.

"I care about personal style because without it the artist is not recognizable. What I teach in design, I try to use in my art. When I was painting, I was interested in the ratio of new combinations of colours and textures, working with space," said the artist.

In 2016, Ihor Yurchenko became a participant in the ROSA Gallery project to develop Ukrainian artists' watercolour paints. The artist led a group of artists from Lviv, that participated in the evaluation of the first test samples, they tested them in their work and made suggestions for changing and refining the colours. Constructive feedback from professional artists has become a significant contribution to the history of Ukrainian artists' paints.

Testing and participation in the development of professional watercolour paints, before they were on sale, participation in the recording of a video clip about their production, all this that remained behind the scenes, had a great impact on the appearance of ROSA Gallery watercolour paints.

The ROSA range includes two types of products, the covers of which are decorated with the works of Ihor Yurchenko:

1.A set of professional watercolour paints LANDSCAPE from ROSA Gallery. The artist’s incredible work "Landscape" is full of coziness, peace, and tranquility and defines the mood of the thematic set of watercolours LANDSCAPE. The set is one of the basic ones, formed from the main colours of the classic palette, and is a good solution for those who are just learning the technique, getting to know the ROSA product, or looking for the perfect gift for a watercolour artist.

2.Paper for watercolour and gouache painting in folders and packages of A3 and A4 size. The author's gentle mountain landscape adorns the cover of the folders, which are an integral part of the successful creative process of every art student, amateur, and beginner. Placing painting in the design of the product popularizes the artist both in Ukraine and abroad, and inspires students and artists to be creative.

A large study of new granulating colours of ROSA Gallery watercolours, created at the beginning of 2023, deserves special attention, which resulted in incredibly effective paintings by Ihor Yurchenko that amaze the viewer. This is the case when patterns are broken and prejudices are destroyed when non-classical colours are skillfully used by the author to create realistic works.

For many years, Ihor Yurchenko led a group of Ukrainian artists at the FabrianoinAquarello International Watercolour Festival. In 2022, at the most difficult time for the country, we are proud that together with the master we created a special video clip with a demonstration and master class, which was broadcast at the meeting of the leaders of all the countries of the world. In the video, the complex feelings of Ukrainians of that time are conveyed by a thin thread between the strokes of the brush through the essence and motif of the picture, the style, and colours of the video design.

Today the artist works at the Department of Architecture and Restoration and the Department of Design of Lviv Polytechnic National University and teaches talented youth in the studio “Collage”. He conducts many professional online courses for experienced artists in Ukraine and Poland.

Ihor Yurchenko is the co-founder of the art and design studio “Collage” in Lviv, created in 2019 as a place for creative meetings and training. In 2020, online classes were started at the studio, and more than 10 different courses have been developed, which attracted artists from different parts of Ukraine and the world. Together with its students, the studio has gone through trials and continues its activities in difficult conditions. On the walls of the “Collage” you can often find works created with the help of ROSA products, which have become not only a necessary part of student works but also an integral part of the artist’s work.
